Webmaster needed

I would like to thank David Pimentel for the many hours he has devoted to LAHA in the position of webmaster.  He has helped us out in many ways over the years, but has stepped down as of the end of this season.  David, your help has been appreciated and we are thankful for what you have done to help the organization.

Sadly, we are now in need of a new webmaster along with the 2 open board members.  If you are interested in any of these positions, please email me at president@lahockey.org.

Thank you for your service David.  Best of luck on your future endeavors.

Board Nominations

Two LAHA Executive Board terms are expiring (Renee Dunwoody and Kathi Fisher), and the Board is seeking nominations to fill these vacancies.  Anyone may be nominated.  The membership votes from the list of candidates, and these Board members serve a 2-year term.  Following the election, the five voting Executive Board members meet to decide which positions they will serve during the coming year, i.e., President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, and Member-at-Large.

The positions require commitment and lots of positive energy to help make the association work.  These positions are critical to making the association enriching for the players.

Nominations will be accepted through May 1, 2018.  Self-nomination is preferred.  If you are nominating someone else, please verify his or her willingness to serve if elected.  Please submit your nomination to the executive committee ( ).

The general membership will be presented with the nominations via email.  The membership will be given the opportunity to vote by return email through May 10, 2018.  The results will be announced May 15, 2018.  The new board will be installed at the following Board meeting in early June.

High School Pick Up Hockey

High School pick up hockey will start on Tuesday April 24th from 7pm – 8pm at the Outpost Ice Arena and continue every Tuesday night until the end of July. (Tuesday July 3rd is blacked out.)

High School age players, incoming freshman through graduating seniors, from all associations are welcome.

Registration is now open on the NM Ice Website with two options: Paying for the whole season at a discount (14 sessions) or paying a drop-in fee as you go. Details are on the website.

Teams will be formed based on attendance each day and full ice scrimmages will take place. Goalies will share net minding if more than two show up on any given day. All sessions will be supervised by an on-ice coach to insure a good hockey experience is had by all, but players will be allowed creativity and freedom in their play.

A designated coach or representative will be available to collect drop in fees each session. Fees will not be paid at the front desk to the Outpost Ice Arena.

All players must register in advance, even drop in players, so we have their USA Hockey # on file, and they agree to our code of conduct.

For specific questions, or if you’re willing to help as a qualified coach, please contact Coach Matt.

We hope to see many of your players soon!
